Tricks and tips to get the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. OBX Ridgeview 4 Bedroom Home at Southridge has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is best for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
