How to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Sundancer 8 Bedroom Oceanfront Home w\/ Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
