Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. To find the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental home in Nags Head:
- First, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. K1327 Paradise Found. Between the Ocean & Sound Views, Pool, Pet Friendly! has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
