Finding the best Nags Head rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Stunning PUP - Friendly Beachfront - Top Floor End Unit with Spectacular Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
