Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer time is high season in Nags Head. Booking in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfect Nags Head rental:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Critic's Choice: Semi-oceanfront, Pool, Spa has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
