Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your group select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 4th of JULY WEEK 4 NIGHT STAY STARTING JUL 1ST has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
