Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Nags Head. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking yourvacation home:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Private Pool, Hot Tub
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
