Getting the best vacation rental experience:

When to book a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation home in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Spend your Holidays on the OBX Oceanfront!! Location!Location, Location. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
