Booking the best rental home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 3 bedroom beach box with a hot tub and short walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your group.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
