Nags Head rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sandy Too-Oceanfront, pool, hot tub, private walkway with gazebo, amazing ocean views! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head beach you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
