How to find the best rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Nags Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the best rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Now Playing With A Private Heated Pool and Close to Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
