Vacation rental booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Nags Head rental home:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Brown Pelican-Steps to beach, private pool, hot tub, community pool & tennis has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
