Strategies for getting the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfectrental:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Soundside home in The Village at Nags Head! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
