Getting the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the perfect rental:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Oceanfront
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for a smooth stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
