Nags Head rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. Reserve your Nags Head rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the best Nags Head rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Queen Elizabeth 8 Bedroom Oceanfront Home has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
