Tips to get the best Nags Head vacation property experience:
Finding the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best rental:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Welcome to MAJESTY! Ocean Views-Hot Tub-Pool Access has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
