Getting the best vacation property experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Semi-oceanfront home just 123 yards from the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
