Nags Head rental home booking tips:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Nags Head. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick yourrental home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Private Pool, Hot Tub
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
