Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best rental home in Nags Head:

  • Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. K1156 Village Views. Oceanfront, Village at Nags Head Amenities, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
