Vacation rental home tips:

When to visit & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. To book the largest rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental home in Nags Head:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. N3709- Oceanfront stunner with 6 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, Hot Tub, and Game Room. has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head beach you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
