About this Property

  • Private vacation home

The Egret's Nest is waterfront on the Roanoke Sound and adjoins the 500 acre Jockey's Ridge State Park. Fronting on arguably the most pretty stretch of sound-shore beach of the entire Outer Banks, the Egret's Nest is a great location for wind-surfers, kayakers, hang-gliders and bird-watchers. The Sound shore near the Egrets Nest is a great place for kids to play (and parents relax). The shallow sound waters don't have the currents and waves of the ocean and we never have "red flag" days!
The location of the Egrets Nest is one of the best wind-surfing launch sites on the entire east coast. It's also a great spot for modest sailboats. Vacationers will savor the peaceful and privacy of the Egrets Nest location. While the site has no adjacent neighbor to the south, the vast open waters of the Roanoke Sound to the west, and nearly a mile of Jockey's Ridge State Park to the north and east: it is shared by the Austin residence as shown on the site plan. The Egrets Nest is attached by a modest ten foot common wall to the Austin's private residence. The pier and driveway are shared. The parking and entrance are separate and private.
**Please note that the Vacation Rental By Owner service fee will be instantly charged upon booking by Vacation Rental By Owner but all rents, host costs, and taxes will be processed by Cola Vaughan Realty within 24 hours of booking and Cola Vaughan Realty will handle all of the details of your stay**

Tips to get the best rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to pick the best rental in the Nags Head area:

  • First, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Cozy sound front cottage in Nags Head! Incredible views and right next to JRSP! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head beach you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
