Tips for getting the perfect Nags Head vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Zane's Beach House: Oceanfront, Spa, Dog Friendly has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
