Getting the best Nags Head rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfectrental home:

  • First, have your group agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Private Pool, Hot Tub
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
