Nags Head rental home booking tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting the best rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sunswept: Oceanfront, Pool, Hot Tub, Dunetop Deck has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
