Finding the best rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best rental:

  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.

  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
