Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Nags Head. Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book a perfect Nags Head rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Steps to the beach,Semi-Oceanfront,Sound view,Pool,Hot tub,Family/Kid Friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is best for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
