Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best vacation home in the Nags Head area:

- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
