Booking the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best vacation rental in Nags Head:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sound Serenity in Old Nags Head Cove! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
