Our top Nags Head vacation rental home tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Sand Castle Cottage: Semi-Oceanfront
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
