This spectacular 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home includes a wraparound porch and 2 sun decks, so you can sip your coffee while watching the sunrise over the ocean and sip wine while watching the iridescent sunset over the sound. It's also oceanside, so your family and pup (yep, it's dog-friendly!) can spend your days playing in the sand and your nights laughing and calming in the home. This place is equipped with plenty of outdoor furnishings, including hammocks, chairs, and swings, as well as a roomy fenced-in yard! Sea N' Sound resides in the pristine area of South Nags Head: a serene locale that's low on commercialism and big on relaxing, natural beauty!

The ground level offers plenty of parking for everybody in your group. On the mid-level, there's a laundry area with a washer and dryer for convenient mid-week washes. This home has 2 master queen bedrooms. Both are surrounded by calming, light-colored walls, and are adorned with handsome coastal decor. Both also include en suite bathrooms, complete with shower/tub combos. There's also a bedroom with 2 twins and another with a bunk bed set and a single twin. These rooms share a hall bath with a shower/tub combo. The mid-level wraparound, covered porch keeps the sea breeze in your hair and the rays off your face while you take your pick of incomparable ocean and sound vistas.

The top-level living area is extremely cavernous and includes a flat-screen TV and direct access to the top-level sun deck through the sliding glass doors. The dining area also offers access to the sun deck and includes a elegant wood table with seating for 8. If that's not enough, hop over to the kitchen bar with seating for 4 more! The kitchen features heavenly hickory cabinets and lustrous granite countertops that you'll be hard-pressed to find in many other vacation homes. All the kitchen appliances are only a couple of years old and it's outfitted with everything you'll need for preparing elegant coastal cuisines! Your eyes will widen at first sight of the fun-filled rec room, complete with a 2nd TV and an action-ready foosball table!. Last but not least… Don't forget to discover the two top-level sun decks! These areas offer vistas of both the Atlantic Ocean and Roanoke Sound – an unbeatable area to soak up some rays while marveling at all the beauty South Nags Head has to offer.

Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental in Nags Head:

  • First and foremost, have your group select date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 7142 Sea 'N Sound*Dogs Allowed*Ocean & Sound Views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is best for your group.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
