Nags Head vacation rental tips:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Nags Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best rental in the Nags Head area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Newly redecorated luxury home with stunning sunset views on the Roanoke Sound has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
