Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Nags Head. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect rental in Nags Head:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. New! Ocean Breeze - Oceanfront 8 BR in Outer Banks has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
