Vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Pearl 8 Bedroom Oceanfront Home at Whalebone Beaches has 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
