Tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. K1130 Kirtland's Keep. Private Pool, Putting Green, Elevator! Sunday Turn. has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
