Nags Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by having your family commit to dates and a budget.
  • Village at Nags Head
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
