When to reserve a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
