Strategies to get the best Nags Head rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Nags Head rental home:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. It's Beach Time: Oceanfront, Bonus Bungalow has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head beach you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
