Our top Nags Head vacation rental tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect rental in the Nags Head area:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Home Again: Oceanfront, Pool, Spa, Elevator has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
