Finding the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Gorgeous pet-friendly oceanfront duplex in Nags Head w\/ a hot tub & rec room has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
