Nags Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 5 Bedroom, 3 Baths, sleeps 10, Located at MP 10. 3 blocks from the beach. has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
