Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Nags Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking the right Nags Head rental:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Close to the beach, clean and comfy! Your pooch is welcome. has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
