Strategies to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for local tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Cape Hatteras Cottage:Semi-Oceanfront, Private Hot Tub, Access to Community Pool has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
