Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your Nags Head rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Atlantic Oasis, less than 1 block to the beach! Private & Spacious, Full Kitchen has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
