How to find the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. Booking your Nags Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking a perfectrental:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 1 bedroom classic Nags Head cottage! Right across the street from the beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
