Rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in Nags Head. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing a perfectvacation home:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Absolute Searenity- Oceanfront, Pet-Friendly, Private Pool and Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
