Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Nags Head. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the perfect rental home in Nags Head:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Reminiscent: Oceanside, Private Pool, Spa has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
