Memory Maker features 6 bedrooms, including 2 king beds and 3 queens. Two sets of bunk beds are perfect for young adults or kids to relax at the end of the day. Both en suite bedrooms have their own balconies. Updated bathrooms include double vanities. This home boasts an open floor plan with beautifully updated flooring throughout. The kitchen and dining areas feature quartz countertops plus all the amenities you need for meal-prep and family gatherings.

Your family is sure to enjoy a movie night around the 65" TV in the living area! Or head down to the rec room for a game of pool, play Xbox on the other 65" TV, or snuggle fireside. The beach is just across the road via the semi-private beach access south of the Surfside Hotel. Sun and covered decks allow for stunning views of both the sunrise and sunset. This home also features a private saltwater pool and hot tub. The pool area has an outdoor shower, outdoor sink, and bar. The back yard also contains a private sand lot for outdoor fun!

The living room fireplace is not for guest use, but feel free to use the rec room fireplace.

Pets welcome! Limited to 2 dogs, 60-pound limit, please. The owners of Memory Maker have recently added a fenced-in dog run for your fur baby! Please see the pictures, starting at #64. This feature is perfect for dogs who become bored inside all day and appreciate spending time outside. Your 4 legged family member can get exercise and enjoy the outdoor fresh air within the security and safety of this spacious, enclosed area. A built-in doggy door adds to the convenience, as your pet can enter the enclosure safely from the mid level door of the house, meaning YOU don’t have to go down to let him in! It even comes with a waste station and a red fire hydrant!

For guest convenience, sheets and towels will be supplied and your beds will be freshly made!

Memory Maker is close to shops, restaurants, and attractions, including multiple fishing piers, the Wright Brothers National Memorial, and Jockey's Ridge State Park.

The private pool is open the 2nd week of May through the 2nd week of October. No dogs in the pool.

For beach access, use the walkway at First Colony Inn that crosses over just south of the Surfside Hotel. Please do not access the beach through the Surfside Hotel.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
