Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. SUMMER SALE! Newly Reno Oceanfront with Unobstructed Views. Sand & Ocean! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
