Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your Nags Head rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. PierView 308: Oceanfront Condo with Community Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. Otherwise, contact the host before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
