Strategies to get the best Nags Head rental experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Nags Head. Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the best Nags Head rental home:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. SN8812- Stunning Semi-OF with 7 Bedrooms, Private Pool, Hot Tub & Pool Table! has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
