  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.

Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
