Our top Vacation rental tips:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Nags Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. SNH416, Ocean Adventure- Oceanside, 400 ft to Beach access, screened porch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
